Restroom rules for construction sites in plain English
OSHA requires toilet facilities on construction sites. The general rule is one toilet for up to 20 workers, and one toilet seat and one urinal for every 40 workers after that. Always check the current rules for your project.
Most contractors plan for more than the minimum, especially on crowded sites, because long walks and long lines cost working time.
Hand washing is part of the requirement too. A fresh-water wash station keeps the site compliant and keeps inspectors happy.
Service schedule matters as much as unit count. A weekly pump-out is standard, and larger crews may need two.
